Asia Cup, 2008

Bangladesh announce squad for women's Asia Cup

Cricinfo staff

April 8, 2008

The Bangladesh Cricket Board (BCB) have announced a 14-member squad for next month's women's Asia Cup, which also features India, Pakistan and Sri Lanka. This is the first time Bangladesh are participating in the event, gaining entry by virtue of their triumph in the Asian Cricket Council tournament last year.

The 10-day long tournament runs from May 2 to May 11 and will be played at Dambulla and Kurunegala, near Kandy. It sees the teams playing each other twice before the top two meet for the final at the Welagedara Stadium in Kurunegala. Bangladesh take on India in their first game on May 2.

As Bangladesh are not among the top 14 ranked sides in the world, matches involving them in the Asia Cup will not be considered as one-day internationals.

Squad
Sathira Zakir Jessy, Shukhtara, Ayesha Akhter, Salma Khatun, Irin Sultana, Chamily Khatun, Rumana Akhter, Panna Ghosh, Shamima Akhter Pinky, Jahanara Alam, Lily Rani, Tithi Rani, Papiya Haque Babu, Mina Khatun
