Virender Sehwag, fresh from scoring 319 in the first Test against South Africa in Chennai, has said that the aggressive nature of his batting has hampered his progress in one-dayers.

"I am too positive in one-dayers and I think I have to change that. Sometimes if you are too positive, you get out yourself instead of [the] bowlers dismissing you. That is happening to me," Sehwag said at a press conference called by the Delhi Daredevils, the IPL outfit that he captains. "So, in the coming one-dayers I will try to play in the Test mode."

Meanwhile, Sehwag responded to those who had questioned his place in the Test side. "Lots of people had asked why I was in the Test team. I am happy that I have answered them in Chennai." Sehwag made his Test comeback in Perth, after a hiatus of one year, and hit scores of 29 and 43. He followed it up with a century in the next Test at Adelaide.

Sehwag had a poor run in the CB Series that followed the Test series, where he only managed 81 runs from five games at 16.20. Prior to that, Sehwag was out of the team for five months before he returned for three ODIs against Pakistan, where he managed a highest score of 43 in Gwalior. In total, he played 15 ODIs in 2007, scoring 475 runs at 33.92.

Looking ahead to the second Test in Ahmedabad, which begins on April 3, Sehwag said: "Last time, when we played in Ahmedabad it was a spinning track and we won the game against Sri Lanka within four days. So, I am looking forward to a spinning track and India would get the chance to go one up."
