January 23, 2007

Alex Gidman, Steve Kirby and Chris Taylor have put pen to paper on contract extensions at Gloucestershire with Tom Richardson, the chief executive, saying "they all have a huge part of play."

Gidman, the vice-captain who has represented England A, said: "I am very happy with this and am looking forward to working with the squad to develop the team and compete for and win trophies."

Kirby, who was Gloucestershire's leading wicket-taker in 2006, added that he still has aspirations to play for England: "With the excellent support structure we have at the club I am certain further success is inevitable in both forms of the game. This year with a bit of luck and lot of hard work I hope to fulfil my life long dream to play for my country."

Gloucestershire start the 2007 season in the second division of the County Championship, but back in the top flight of the Pro40 competition after winning the second division last season.
