It was an action-packed second day at the Maple-Leaf North-East Ground where 19 wickets fell as Canada ended Scotland's first innings at 374, got bowled out for 79 and lost two wickets in the follow-on. Scotland put on a clinical all-round performance which could see them wrap up the match with a day to spare on a pitch already taking turn.

Douglas Lockhart and Qasim Sheikh's 173-run stand had put Scotland on course for an imposing total with 286 runs yesterday, but the team added only 88 more to the total as left-arm spinner Sunil Dhaniram struck with four wickets, including Lockhart's for 151.

Neil McCallum was the first of Dhaniram's wickets, when he was bowled for 45 in the 10th over of the day. Omer Hussain went soon after, caught behind off Qaiser Ali. But a 48-run partnership between Lockhart and Majid Haq made up for the quick wickets and Scotland looked steady once more. However Majid's wicket signalled a collapse as the last five wickets fell in just over six overs.

Though Scotland hadn't managed to build on their first-day score, the total proved to be more than enough. With the first ball of Canada's innings, medium-fast bowler Dewald Nel trapped Abdul Jabbar leg before as the batsman played across the line to an inswinging delivery. Gordon Goudie removed the other opener Sandeep Jyoti with only 12 runs on the board and then Nel struck thrice in quick succession to reduce Canada to 39 for 5. Qaiser and Dhaniram hung on for a while but their partnership was broken by left-arm spinner Ross Lyons, when he bowled Qaiser for 10. Dhaniram, Canada's top scorer with 17, batted with Saad Bin Zafar for 58 balls - the longest partnership for the innings - where Zafar didn't score at all. Canada were bowled out inside 39 overs as Nel and Lyons shared seven wickets between them.

In the second innings, Jabbar was caught behind off Nel to complete a pair in a day. But Jyoti and Rustam Bhatti batted confidently and added 30 before 18-year old Bhatti was bowled by Gordon Drummond. At stumps Qaiser was batting alongside Jyoti and Canada were trailing Scotland by 259 runs.
