 Profile

Shakeel Khan was opening batsman with a decent domestic record in a ten-year career. After retiring he took up umpiring and stood in six Tests between 1982-83 and 2001-02. In his third match - Pakistan v England in Lahore in 1987-88 - he hit the headlines for a plethora of appalling decisions which indirectly led to the infamous Shakoor Rana-Mike Gatting showdown in the next Test at Faisalabad. England had objected to Khan's appointment before the match.
