Western Australia Cricket Association

October 20, 2003

Retravision Warrior Paul Wilson was fined for abusive language at the conclusion of day one of the Pura Cup match against the West End Redbacks.

Field umpires Steve Davis and Bob Parry charged Wilson for abusive language against Redbacks batsmen John Davison.

Wilson was charged under rule 2.6 of the Cricket Australia Code of Behaviour. This states that players must not use language that is obscene, offensive or of a seriously insulting nature to another player, official or spectator.

The matter was heard by Cricket Australia Code of Behaviour Commissioner Ron Bowe who found Wilson guilty of the charge.

Wilson, a former Redbacks fast-bowler moved to WA at the beginning of last season. He was fined 50 per cent of his match fee.

Wilson made his first-class debut for South Australia in 1995-96. This is the first charge the 30-year-old has faced.
