Cricinfo staff

March 14, 2005

Barbados 303 and 100 for 4 (Campbell 54*) beat Trinidad & Tobago 244 and 156 (Bradshaw 6-34) by 6 wickets
Scorecard

Trinidad & Tobago's hopes of reaching the finals of the Carib Beer Cup were dashed when they suffered a six-wicket defeat at the hands of Barbados at the Queen's Park Oval. Starting the day at 47 for 3 in their second innings, and already trailing by 59 in the first innings, Trinidad were bundled out for 156 in their second innings. Barbados' star was Ian Bradshaw, the left-arm seamer. He dismissed the last six batsmen to finish with outstanding figures of 6 for 34. Already struggling in the match, Trinidad were further hampered by an elbow injury to Daren Ganga, their captain, which forced him to bat at No. 9. Requiring 98 to win, Barbados were in a spot of bother at 53 for 3, but Sherwin Campbell guided them home with an unbeaten 54. This was only the second win in the tournament for Barbados, who, despite the win, finished at the bottom of the points table.

Jamaica 455 (Samuels 160, Gayle 88, Baugh 92) beat Windward Islands212 and 206 (La Feuille 51, Washington 5-20) by an innings and 37 runs
Scorecard

A superb spell of fast bowling by Dwight Washington took Jamaica to their seventh win in the Carib Beer tournament, as they coasted to an innings-and-37-run victory against Winward Islands at St Elizabeth. The 20-year-old Washington moved the ball both ways and helped himself to excellent figures of 5 for 20 as Windwards, already trailing by 243 in the first innings, were bundled out for 206. Earlier, a magnificent 160 from Marlon Samuels, surprisingly omitted from the West Indies probables line-up for the series against South Africa, and 92 from Carlton Baugh lifted Jamaica to 455 in their first innings. The win took Jamaica's points tally to 95, putting them on top of the points table and assuring them of a place in the finals.

Leeward Islands 337 for 7 (Jeffers 72, Joseph 58, Mitchum 52) trail Guyana 448 by 111 runs
Scorecard

Leeward Islands almost assured themselves of a place in the Carib Beer Cup finals. Requiring only a draw in their last league match, against Guyana in Essequibo, they were well on their way to achieving that, reaching 337 for 7 at close of play on the third day, trailing by 111. Leewards were helped by useful half-centuries by Shane Jeffers (72), Sylvester Joseph (58) and Junie Mitchum (52). Mahendra Nagamootoo was the most successful bowler for Guyana, taking 3 for 52.
