Trinidad & Tobago's Dave Mohammed, the left-arm spinner, held his nerve in the final over to help his side clinch a thrilling five-run win over Barbados in the first Stanford 20/20 semi-final.

Despite conceding five runs in his first two balls, in an over when Barbados needed 14, Mohammed came back to strike with a dot ball followed by a quicker one, that had Derrick Bishop stumped by Denesh Ramdin. He then conceded only three off the final two balls to take Trinidad into the final.

Barbados were on course to the target when Patrick Browne, the opener, cracked a 56-ball 55. He shrugged off the loss of partners at regular intervals and cracked seven fours in a knock which held the innings together. It was Mohammed, though, who dismissed him in the 18th over and made Trinidad's job much harder.

Earlier Trinidad were boosted by good contributions from William Perkins (43) and Dwayne Bravo (39). Dwayne Smith, though, had thwarted them in the final overs, snapping up 4 for 9 in 2.1 overs. It didn't look as though the total would be enough but Trinidad showed the resilience to hold on. They will now meet the winner of the second semi-final - between Guyana and Jamaica. The final is set for Sunday.
