 Profile

Fast bowler Nicki Shaw burst in to the England senior squad for their winter tour to Australia and New Zealand 1999-2000 as a 17-year-old bustling with promise, having been part of the victorious England A team who won the European Cup in 1999. But in the following years, her best figures at Test level were 3 for 74, while 2 for 8 formed her optimum return in the one-day version. However, her genuine pace is always threatening and, if the selectors keep faith with her, she could yet deliver match-winning performances and fulfil her vast potential. Shaw is indeed ideally positioned to become a great strike bowler, as she is on the MCC Young Cricketers staff at Lord's, having previously trained at the Nottinghamshire Cricket Academy.
